2026 Dangjin Hi-Teen Festival: A Celebration of Youth and Tradition
On May 30th, Dangjin was truly vibrant with the passion of its youth.
The 2026 Dangjin Hi-Teen Festival took place successfully at the outdoor plaza and main auditorium of the Dangjin Arts Center.
This festival was particularly special as it was not just a viewing event but a youth-led cultural festival where young people actively planned and participated in its operation.
This year's theme was 'Tradition', reinterpreted through the eyes of the youth.
Inspired by the movie The King and the Clown, the festival creatively connected tradition with youth. While traditional culture may seem difficult and rigid, this festival presented it in a fun and friendly manner through the perspective of young people.
The event began at 9:30 AM, featuring 24 activity booths in the outdoor plaza that elevated the festival atmosphere.
From traditional games and foods to crafts, souvenir making, and instant photo experiences, a variety of programs attracted great popularity among children, teenagers, and families alike.
Moreover, the free admission made it easy for everyone to enjoy.
Visitors participated in traditional games like tuho and jegichagi, experiencing the old culture, while enjoying various food booths, laughing and chatting with friends.
Many booths were run by the youth themselves, showcasing their passion and responsibility throughout the festival.
The pre-show performance by VELCRO energized the atmosphere, signaling the start of the Hi-Teen Festival.
With strong band sounds and dynamic performances, VELCRO heightened the excitement even before the main event began, as students and citizens naturally clapped and enjoyed the show.
More than just an opening act, VELCRO's performance served as a signal that the festival had begun, drawing the audience's attention to the stage.
One of the highlights of the Hi-Teen Festival was the joint competition among eight high school clubs in the Dangjin area. Students showcased their hard work with performances that included singing, dancing, band music, and various genres.
The applause from friends, parents, and local citizens filled the venue, creating an atmosphere of support and unity beyond competition.
Another memorable moment was the award ceremony for exemplary youth in Dangjin. While the festival was filled with exciting performances, the sight of dedicated youth receiving recognition for their efforts was truly moving.
