Riding the Han River Bus: A Scenic Trip from Apgujeong to Ttukseom

The Han River Bus began its pilot operation on September 18th, drawing attention as a new way to experience Seoul’s river scenery. While Han River taxis were already familiar, the idea of a river bus sparked curiosity.
This post shares a relaxed weekend ride from Apgujeong to Ttukseom, including waiting tips, onboard atmosphere, landmark views, and how the journey naturally connects to a full day out by the Han River.
A Perfect Weekend to Ride the Han River Bus
Last weekend’s weather felt just right for a Han River outing. With the Mureungdowon Festival happening nearby, it felt like the perfect excuse to finally try the Han River Bus.
The departure point was Apgujeong Pier. Because the Han River Bus has become quite popular, arriving early is essential.
I arrived about 40 minutes before departure, but due to a slight delay, the actual waiting time stretched to almost an hour. The fare is simple and affordable at 3,000 won, payable by transportation card.
From Apgujeong to Ttukseom by River
This ride was from Apgujeong to Ttukseom. The Han River Bus itself has a slightly retro exterior, which gives it a charming and approachable feel.
Inside, the space felt open and comfortable, with more seating than expected.
The river water was a bit murky due to rain the day before, but the sky made up for it with clear blue tones that reflected beautifully off the buildings.
Feeling the Breeze on the Front Deck
Stepping out to the front of the boat to feel the Han River breeze was one of the highlights. It brought back memories of Han River cruises from years ago.
The atmosphere onboard felt relaxed and cheerful, especially when we waved to passengers on a Han River Bus heading in the opposite direction.
Seoul Landmarks Along the Way
As the bus moved along the river, familiar Seoul landmarks came into view one by one.
Seoul Forest in Seongsu-dong appeared alongside Galleria Foret and Acro Seoul Forest, with Lotte World Tower visible far off in Jamsil.
Watching the harmony between the blue sky and tall buildings made the ride feel like a moving observation deck.
Arrival at Ttukseom and Riverside Time
The bus arrived at Ttukseom Pier, located near Jayang Station on Line 7. The pier itself has a futuristic, almost spaceship-like appearance.
After getting off, Jamsil Olympic Stadium and duck boats drifting along the river were visible in the distance.
Ttukseom is an ideal place for families, offering playgrounds, gardens, open squares, forests, and wide lawns. Inline skating and playing near the water made the time fly by.
Coffee, Ramyeon, and a Changing Han River
A recently built riverside structure now houses a Starbucks, making it easy to enjoy a quiet moment by the river with a drink.
Ttukseom has changed significantly over the past decade, adding more child-friendly facilities and themed spaces that appeal to all ages.
The day ended with a cup of ramyeon after all the activity. Somehow, cup ramyeon always tastes better when eaten by the Han River.
With summer finally fading and festival season in full swing, it feels like the year is rushing by. Before the cold sets in, there’s every reason to visit the Han River as often as possible.
