Quick Trip Back Home: Airport Adventures Before Flying from the US

This post shares a real-time travel experience departing from Incheon International Airport during the busy Chuseok holiday season. With an early morning flight to the US, the journey highlights practical decisions that helped reduce stress despite heavy crowds.
From booking an airport taxi in advance to using passenger assistance services and finding a quiet breakfast spot inside Terminal 2, this short diary-style post captures useful tips for families traveling during peak seasons.
Early Morning Departure During Peak Season
The flight was scheduled for 9:20 AM, but due to peak travel season and ongoing strike concerns, departure from home was planned much earlier. Arriving at the airport around 6 AM felt like the safest choice.
Traveling with a large family meant booking an airport taxi in advance. This removed the uncertainty of transportation and made the early start far more manageable.
Terminal 2 Check-in Experience with Korean Air
Flying with Korean Air meant heading straight to Incheon Airport Terminal 2. As expected on the day of Chuseok, the baggage check-in lines were extremely long.
Fortunately, since there was a one-year-old baby in the group, passenger assistance services were available. This allowed luggage check-in and boarding procedures to be completed much faster than anticipated.
Finding a Quiet Breakfast Spot Inside Terminal 2
After completing check-in earlier than expected, the next challenge was finding food. Most restaurants, including Starbucks, were packed with long lines.
A Twosome Coffee located on the second floor near a lounge turned out to be a great alternative. Because it was slightly off the main flow, it was noticeably less crowded and perfect for a quick breakfast.
Duty-Free Pickup and Lightening the Luggage
After breakfast, duty-free purchases were picked up, including a bag and running shoes ordered online. Everything was unboxed immediately to reduce luggage volume.
The running shoes proved especially useful during the trip. Even with a sprained ankle, wearing them helped reduce strain and made walking more comfortable throughout the journey.
Ready for Boarding
With check-in, breakfast, and shopping all completed, it was finally time to board the plane. Despite the holiday crowds, the early arrival and small planning choices made the process smoother.
The boarding experience itself will be shared in the next post, but this part of the journey already felt like a successful start.
