Free Transit Hotel at Beijing Airport: A Step-by-Step Guide
On my journey from Incheon Airport to Madrid with Air China, I had a seven-hour layover at Beijing Airport. Instead of spending the entire time inside the terminal, I used Air China’s free transit hotel service.
This post walks through the entire experience, from arrival procedures at Beijing Airport to hotel assignment, transportation, room conditions, and the return trip back to the airport.

Incheon to Madrid via Beijing with Air China
For this trip, I flew with Air China from Incheon Airport to Madrid, with a seven-hour layover in Beijing. Because the layover was long enough, I became eligible for the airline’s free transit hotel program.
Knowing I could rest outside the airport instead of waiting at the gate already made the journey feel less exhausting.
What to Do Right After Landing in Beijing
After deplaning at Beijing Airport, it is very important to follow the correct signs. Once you exit the aircraft, head toward Baggage Claim, Exit, or Arrivals.
Do not follow the Transfer signs. Instead, proceed toward Immigration. Before passing Immigration, you must fill out an arrival card, which is mandatory.
Moving to Terminal 3 and Finding the Transit Hotel Desk
After clearing Immigration, walk down the long corridor until you see signs for the Shuttle Train or Terminal Train, often marked with directions such as T3-C, Baggage Claim, or Exit.
Take the train to Terminal 3, exit through Gate B, and look for signs labeled Transit Hotel once outside.
Hotel Assignment and Group Transportation
After showing my printed hotel confirmation, an Air China staff member gave me a necklace-style tag and gathered all eligible passengers together.
I was assigned to the Beijing Fuyurong International Hotel. Staff checked our tags and guided us to a van that transported passengers to their respective hotels.
Some passengers were dropped off earlier, while my ride continued for about twenty minutes into the city. The entire process was orderly, even though it felt a bit like organized group movement.
Hotel Room Condition and Amenities
The hotel itself was clean and well-maintained. After a long flight, being able to shower immediately made a huge difference.
Basic amenities were provided, and there was bottled water and tea in the room. The Wi-Fi worked, although it was a bit slow.
Compared to waiting seven hours inside the airport, resting in a proper bed felt incredibly refreshing.
Rest Time and Return Instructions
During check-in, the hotel staff instructed us to wait in front of the front desk two hours and thirty minutes before our next flight.
I ended up resting for about three hours before heading back to the airport.
Safe Transfer Back to Beijing Airport
At the designated time, the van safely transported us back to Beijing Airport. The return process was smooth and well-coordinated.
Knowing exactly when and where to go removed any anxiety about missing the connecting flight.
Why I Strongly Recommend the Free Transit Hotel
If you have a long layover at Beijing Airport with Air China, using the free transit hotel is absolutely worth it.
Being able to sleep, shower, and reset your body turns a tiring layover into a comfortable break.
