Kyungwol Soju Green: A Retro Korean Spirit Rediscovered

Excessive drinking can lead to strokes, memory loss, or dementia.
Drinking during pregnancy increases the risk of birth defects.
Yu-gun tried Kyungwol Soju at a friend's house and loved it! ★
Yu-gun enjoys a simple drink with his meals, and these days, Kyungwol Soju is his top pick.
Let's take a closer look at Yu-gun's favorite, Kyungwol Soju Green~?!
鏡月 (Kyungwol)

Alc. 20%
Kyungwol Soju uses the characters for "mirror" (鏡) and "moon" (月) in its name.
It was first released in 1926, but I only recently discovered this new liquor.
First produced in Gangwon-do in the 1920s, Kyungwol Soju is a traditional Korean distilled spirit.
The brand emphasizes the clear, clean nature of Seoraksan Mountain.
Doosan Electronics launched it as Green Soju, and Kyungwol Soju became a huge hit by emphasizing its clean image.
Thanks to Kyungwol Soju, green bottles have become the standard for soju.
Kyungwol Soju disappeared from the domestic market for a while.
Ah~ That's why I didn't know about it until now?!
However, it gained recognition in Japan and became very popular as a liquor that stimulates retro sensibilities.
Recently, Lotte Chilsung Beverage brought the brand back to Korea and relaunched it.
It's stimulating consumers' nostalgia! ♪
There are two types of Kyungwol Soju:
Kyungwol Green 20 and Kyungwol Green 25.
The product in the photos is Kyungwol Green Soju 20.
It's a diluted, distilled mixed-type soju, combining distilled soju essence and refined spirits.
Volume: 700ml
Alcohol content: 20%
Price: Around ₩5,000~6,000
You can buy it at large supermarkets like E-Mart and GS convenience stores.
I bought mine at E-Mart, and it's not sold at E-Mart Traders.
It's available for around ₩5,000 at E-Mart, and around ₩6,500 at GS convenience stores.
I haven't bought it at GS convenience stores, but availability may vary depending on store stock.
The taste of Kyungwol Green Soju is clean and not sweet.
What's great is that it doesn't have that characteristic soju disinfectant(?) smell!
It's a liquor with a smooth finish because it doesn't have a strong aroma.
However, the only downside is that the glass bottle is larger than expected, making it inconvenient to pour into a glass.
So, I transferred it to a small kettle to drink.
Like pouring makgeolli into a kettle? Hehe
Kyungwol Green Soju 25 is mainly sold in Japan.
With an alcohol content of 25%, it's stronger than Kyungwol Green 20!
At first, it feels smoother than its alcohol content suggests, but the finish is said to be deep and intense.
I'll have to try it when I go to Japan!
Kyungwol Soju Green 20 emphasizes its green concept with a retro green bottle.
It's said to be popular in retro bars in Japan.
Thank you, Lotte Chilsung, for relaunching it in Korea! Hehe
Kyungwol Soju Green 20 allows you to fully experience the retro vibe.
Although it disappeared from Korea and is more famous in Japan, it has been relaunched in Korea and can now be enjoyed domestically.
It can be purchased at large supermarkets like E-Mart or GS convenience stores.
If you're a soju lover, why not give it a try?
Excessive drinking is bad for your health, so let's all enjoy drinking in moderation! ♥
