Becoming an Honorary Citizen of Tongyeong: A Pop-Up Store Visit at TAKA Sound Bar

These days, my social media feeds are filled with algorithms related to Tongyeong, as if I'm becoming an honorary citizen.
I heard news of a pop-up store in Tongyeong and managed to squeeze in a visit.

TAKA, selling escapes on the Juklim Coast!

As I approached the coastal road, TAKA Sound Bar came into view.
The *둠칫둠칫* DJing on a truck was eye-catching.
It was a bit surprising at first, but I found it fun.
This small pop-up, held with the gentle sound of waves, felt like a mini-festival where Tongyeong's local culture and art intersected.

The Second Voyage on the Tongyeong Coast
This event is called 'Oin Hanghae' (五人航海), meaning 'Voyage of Five People.'
It's a project where five artists continue a new voyage through their individual experiences and perspectives.
This is said to be their second journey.
Artists and brands from various fields, from stained glass to illustration, fashion, music, and yoga,
gathered and shared their stories against the backdrop of Tongyeong.

Along with Oin Hanghae, there are also Tongyeong-based local crafts.
Cloud n Rose, a local project team based in Tongyeong, participated.
They attempted a cultural combination that didn't exist before.
Local brands such as 'Gwangdo Makgeolli,' 'Cafe Arce,' 'Sujan Yoga,' 'Eung-Go Live Drawing,' and 'Three Sisters Bandazzi' also participated, adding their unique Tongyeong colors.
The philosophy of pursuing 'things with the warmth of hands' and 'things that retain value over time' is evident everywhere.

The romantic scenery and music of Juklim Beach.
I think Juklim Coastal Road is a walking path favored by locals more than tourists.
So, the DJing sound flowing from a truck on that quiet coast was a bit unfamiliar at first.
The beats of DJ CHUNSAM, NIGAGARA, and special guest SGB vibrated the coastal air,
and the scene of the sea and music mixing together was truly a sensational moment that appeared out of nowhere in Tongyeong.

The harmony of Tongyeong's tradition and modern sensibility.
It was interesting to see that the romantic sentiment of the city of Tongyeong could be reinterpreted in this way through music and art.
The addition of *nubi*, lacquer, and traditional crafts made me think that this project, closely tied to the original local culture, is rare among Gyeongnam pop-up events.
I was thinking of buying the room spray from Cafe Arce in Tongyeong, which I've been to, but I wished the size was a bit smaller.

A space to fully enjoy the current season, weather, sea, music, and alcohol.
Although it's the Juklim TAKA Sound Bar, which sells escapes,
it was transformed into a space for a pop-up, so people of all ages were interested and entered.

This place is filled with unfamiliar but wonderful people from Tongyeong.
I'm not good at drinking, but I was curious about the pop-up store,
so I took a step into TAKA Sound Bar.
Next time, I want to try at least a non-alcoholic drink, haha.

Calvin Glow's stained glass from Busan.
The atmosphere is very different from the tulip kitchen stained glass lamp in my house.
It's a strong and attractive piece.
Ah, so wonderful_ I wanted Calvin Glow

Perhaps I didn't smell like a Tongyeong local at all.
The TAKA owner, who kindly greeted us, gave us a scarf, bandana, or handkerchief with a cat on it as a gift!
It's a brand called S G B Sinagawa Blues,
and it seems like their address is in Gimhae. The printing is unique.
Then, I came to Jinju and wore it at a cafe.
I saw the owner of Sinagawa Blues at the same cafe, and I almost acted like I knew them.
Isn't this an attractive review that you can only feel at a local pop-up store?

I got an upcycling brand, Zope!
It's a local brand from Busan, and they were diligently making items at the pop-up site.
I envy their golden hands.
I purchased a small item from Zope!
It was a brown color that suits autumn, with blue stitching resembling the Tongyeong sea as a point.
I'm using it as a business card holder that fits perfectly in my hand,
and I hope everyone thinks I look sophisticated.

TAKA Sound Bar
Highly recommend it as a date spot in Juklim~

The TAKA Sound Bar, where the event was held,
is introduced as a space where you can enjoy the sea with sparkling sunlight during the day
and live music under soft lighting at night.
It's perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee while facing the sea right in front of you
or sharing a late-night cocktail with your lover.
So, it's good to go alone, but I think the atmosphere would be great for a date in Juklim enjoyed by two people.

I visited for the first time thanks to the pop-up event,
but it's a place I definitely want to visit again at my leisure next time.
I hope that Tongyeong's local artists and brands will continue to collaborate here.
I have a wish to enjoy the pop-up series as a new wave in Tongyeong.

Tongyeong Local, a Voyage Connected by Art
Like the name 'Oin Hanghae,'
this pop-up not only showcased sales and exhibitions
but was also like a new voyage for local culture.
The fact that there is a space like 'TAKA Sound Bar' at the center of it
means that Tongyeong is not only a tourist destination but also a 'living cultural city'
where citizens naturally gather, create, and visit,
which is something to be truly grateful for.

A pop-up store created together by artists, brands,
and people who enjoy it.
The light of the sea, the music, and the warmth of the fingertips,
though short, remain in my memory for a long time.
The next voyage is said to continue in Seongsu, Seoul,
so I'm even more looking forward to the future of Oin Hanghae and TAKA Sound Bar!
