Actress Kim Hieora has stepped back into the public eye, marking her commercial film debut with the movie 'Savior'.

She shared her heartfelt thoughts, saying, "I was able to express deeper emotions through the past time."

'Savior': A Mystery Occult Film on the Boundary Between Miracle and Curse

The press screening for the movie 'Savior' (directed by Shin Jun), held on October 22nd at CGV I-Park Mall in Yongsan, Seoul, was attended by Kim Byung-chul, Song Ji-hyo, Kim Hieora, and others who discussed the film.

'Savior' is a mystery occult film that deals with strange events experienced by an ordinary couple, Young-beom (Kim Byung-chul) and Seon-hee (Song Ji-hyo), after they move to a new village called 'Obok Village'.

The story unfolds as they realize that the miracles that seemed like blessings are actually derived from someone else's misfortune.

Director Shin Jun explained, "I was intrigued by the concept of the equivalence exchange between miracle and curse," and added, "I wanted to focus on showing the psychology of 'people who believe in miracles' rather than exorcism or expelling demons."

Kim Byung-chul X Song Ji-hyo, Acting as a Couple Between Faith and Despair

Actor Kim Byung-chul plays the role of 'Young-beom', who struggles to protect his family.

He said, "I think the horror genre suits my face well," and added, "The appealing aspect of this work is that it unravels the story of people who desire miracles in an unfair reality through the occult."

Song Ji-hyo took on the role of 'Seon-hee', who relies on faith as she gradually loses her sight, delivering intense emotional acting.

She revealed, "I actually wore special lenses that made it difficult to see during filming," and said, "Thanks to the details suggested by the director, I was able to properly express the character's desperation."

Kim Hieora, "Became More Desperate After the Controversy"... Sincerely Portraying 'Chun-seo'

Actress Kim Hieora played the character 'Chun-seo', a person who struggles to survive while raising her son alone.

She said, "I felt a lot of pressure because it was my first commercial film, but it was also an exciting moment," and added, "I was impressed by the fact that all the characters are looking for salvation for their own reasons, so there is no simple distinction between good and evil."

She then confessed, "After the past controversy, I was able to act with even more urgency."

Kim Hieora took time to reflect on herself after the 'school violence' controversy in 2023, and said, "I met with the parties involved and had sincere conversations to clear up misunderstandings. That experience was a great help in this acting."

She also added, "I didn't think of that time as unfair. It was a time for me to reflect and study as an actress," and "Through this work, I realized the preciousness of ordinariness, and that is the real 'miracle'."

'Savior', Presenting a New Direction for Korean Occult

Director Shin Jun, who captured warm emotions in 'Yongsoon', presents a completely different worldview in this work.

Focusing on 'the darkness and desires of the human inner self' rather than supernatural horror, he shows a new attempt in the occult genre.

'Savior', which is scheduled to be released in October 2025, is expected to be a high-quality film with Kim Byung-chul's deep acting, Song Ji-hyo's emotional lines, and Kim Hieora's desperate immersion.
