A Moment for an Icon Representing South Korea
Singer G-Dragon (Kwon Ji-yong) became the youngest recipient of the Order of Cultural Merit at the Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards.
On October 23, 2025, at the awards ceremony held at the National Theater of Korea in Jangchung-dong, Seoul, he marked a symbolic moment as a figure representing K-POP.
"I've been dreaming the same dream since I was six years old."
At the 16th Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards, G-Dragon was awarded the Order of Cultural Merit along with voice actor Bae Han-seong and the late comedian Jeon Yu-seong.
He greeted the audience with a calm demeanor and a bright smile on the stage.
"I am G-Dragon, the youngest recipient."
G-Dragon recalled his journey from childhood to the present.
"The first place I went with my mom when I was six was an audition. I've been dreaming the same dream ever since."
He strived to become a singer in his teens, experienced the world stage in his twenties, and received the Order of Cultural Merit in his thirties.
He smiled, saying, "I'm even more excited for my forties."
"I want to share this honor with my BIGBANG members and fans."
He confessed, "I am so proud of being a singer, and I sincerely love what I do."
He also mentioned his seniors, fans, and BIGBANG members as the reasons for his growth.
"Next year is BIGBANG's 20th anniversary. I want to share this honor with the members, and I sincerely thank the fans."
G-Dragon said he is currently on a world tour and described every stage as a "dreamlike reality."
"If you have a good dream, it can become a reality. I may be the youngest this year, but I have some experience now. I hope everyone has good dreams."
Amidst the laughter of the audience, it was a moment that revealed his composure and philosophy.
