Why Staying at Shilla Stay Gwanghwamun Feels Like the Perfect Seoul Getaway
71, Sambong-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul

Shilla Stay Gwanghwamun is a practical and well-located hotel choice for travelers exploring central Seoul. Located close to Gwanghwamun, Gyeongbokgung Palace, and Jongno, it offers strong accessibility and comfort for short stays.
This post shares a detailed stay experience, including parking tips, room condition, amenities, and why this hotel works especially well for a one-night visit in Seoul.
Location and basic information
Shilla Stay Gwanghwamun is located at 71 Sambong-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
Check-in begins at 15:00, and check-out is at 12:00, which allows a relaxed departure compared to many hotels.
The hotel sits within walking distance of major attractions such as Gwanghwamun, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Anguk Station, and Jongno.
Parking tips you should know
Parking is available in the hotel’s underground parking lot at a rate of 10,000 KRW per day, with one vehicle allowed per room.
You may use the parking until 13:00 on the day of check-out.
Be aware that exiting and re-entering the parking lot incurs an additional 5,000 KRW fee each time.
If the parking lot is full, designated external parking must be used.
For those arriving by car, it is best to arrive around 1–2 PM, when guests tend to leave for lunch and parking availability improves.
Lobby and first impressions
The lobby is located on the 8th floor of the building and features a comfortable seating area.
The front desk operates 24 hours a day, making late arrivals and early departures convenient.
Luggage storage is available both before check-in and after check-out, which is helpful for travelers planning to explore nearby attractions.
Standard twin room overview
We stayed in a standard twin room, which felt appropriately sized for two people.
The room included two beds, a desk by the window, and a television positioned across from the beds.
The bedding was clean and comfortable, fitting well with the hotel’s business-oriented design.
Bathroom and amenities
The bathroom was reasonably spacious for one person.
One downside was the lack of a shower curtain, which caused some water to spill onto the floor.
Toiletries included shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and body lotion from Elemental Herbology.
Toothbrushes and toothpaste are not complimentary and cost 1,000 KRW each, so bringing your own is recommended.
In-room conveniences
A coffee pot, tea, and coffee are provided free of charge.
The refrigerator contains two bottles of water, one chilled and one at room temperature.
There is only one power outlet between the beds, so the second person may need to use the outlet near the desk.
An iron is also available, which aligns well with the hotel’s business-hotel concept.
Unexpected temple view
Although we did not request a specific view, opening the curtains revealed a view of Jogyesa Temple.
This added a calm and slightly unexpected charm to the stay.
Who this hotel is best for
Shilla Stay Gwanghwamun is an excellent option for tourists and foreign visitors looking to explore central Seoul.
Public transportation access is convenient, and there are numerous restaurants and cafés right outside the hotel.
The overall room condition and location make it especially suitable for a one-night stay.
Final thoughts
This hotel offers strong value through its location, cleanliness, and practical amenities.
If you are planning a short stay in Seoul and want easy access to historic sites and city transportation, Shilla Stay Gwanghwamun is a reliable choice.
