The Plight of Delivery Workers and Consumer Responsibility

Delivery workers are being pushed to their limits, facing fatal consequences almost daily. Yet, the company shows no remorse, continuing to prioritize profit over the well-being of its employees. As a result, workers have tragically lost their lives, and even after these incidents, there has been no proper apology from the company. Those who battled against overwork have left this world, and the company has faced a massive data breach affecting millions of personal information. In a shocking twist, the company claims it is American, deflecting accountability.
Consumers must wake up. We need to confront the betrayal we face and take action against it. If we do not protect our market, we risk losing everything. While our K-culture flourishes, profits are siphoned off by foreign companies. This situation is more common than we think. We must not allow a market that operates under the logic of the powerful, controlling the lives of the vulnerable.
Consumers should be willing to endure a bit of inconvenience to safeguard their rights. Ignoring someone else's pain for our comfort could lead to the collapse of our entire foundation. The government must thoroughly investigate such traps to enlighten consumers. Laws and regulations should be strictly enforced to prevent unfair exploitation by corporations.
For instance, apples that cost 1,000 won at the farm end up being sold for 2,500 won in the market. It is incomprehensible why the government protects those who unjustly profit in the middle. Why do they not even attempt to correct this structural injustice? Despite having suffered from the powerful themselves, why do they turn a blind eye to the suffering of the people? Why are they unaware of the struggles of small businesses that are bruised by large corporations?
Are we still considered a developing country? Despite being ranked among the top ten powerful nations, we must reconsider how we feel about being praised as a developed country while failing to address such injustices.
