Glad Mapo Hotel Breakfast Buffet Review: Affordable and Convenient in Seoul
대한민국 서울특별시 마포구 마포대로 92

Hello everyone!
As promised in my last post, today I'm sharing my experience at the Glad Mapo Hotel, a budget-friendly option we stayed at during our Chuseok holiday trip to Seoul. This post will focus on the breakfast buffet at Makino Chaya Mapo, located within the hotel.
First, a quick recap from my previous hotel review: the Glad Mapo Hotel boasts an excellent location right in front of Exit 8 and 9 of Gongdeok Station. This makes it ideal for those traveling around Seoul using public transportation. Plus, parking is available!
Being part of the Hyosung Harrington Square complex is another advantage, as there are convenience stores and restaurants on the lower floors. The breakfast buffet is actually served at one of these restaurants, Makino Chaya Mapo.
The breakfast buffet prices are as follows: Adults - ₩28,000 / Children (37 months - 13 years) - ₩16,500.
Hotel guests can get a 10% discount by pre-booking and paying at the check-in counter at least one day in advance.
If you pre-book, they'll give you a ticket that you absolutely need to bring to the buffet. I thought they could just link it to the system, but they specifically asked for the ticket!
Makino Chaya is located on the lobby floor of the Glad Mapo Hotel.
The breakfast buffet is available from 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM.
The space is quite spacious, and there's no assigned seating, so you can sit wherever you like.
The seats by the large windows looked nice, but they were all set up for two people, so we opted for a table in the center.
While the buffet isn't huge, it offers a reasonable selection of items for the price. Here are some examples:
Several types of salads
Dessert fruits
Yogurt and milk
Dried fruits and nuts
Cereals
Korean side dishes
Seaweed soup and kimchi soup? My husband, who enjoys Korean food, said the soups were delicious. (I personally don't eat Korean food at breakfast buffets, so I didn't try them, haha.)
Being a bread lover, I naturally gravitated towards the bakery section!
Toasting a slice of bread and a croissant is a must!
A slightly unique menu item at the Glad Mapo Hotel breakfast buffet was instant ramen,
I think this is the first time I've seen it at a hotel buffet!
Shin Ramyun, Jin Ramyun, and Seafood Ramyun were available. It's self-serve, and I wondered who would eat this for breakfast, but...
My husband and son did! Haha
The standard buffet offerings: sausage, bacon, fried rice, and fries.
Scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, and fried rice were also available. It seemed like they would make fried eggs and omelets upon request!
The small, cute dumplings were tasty
Bulgogi, perfect for children, was also available.
My daughter loves noodles and was happy to see that there was an instant noodle corner!
I poured myself a cup of coffee to wake myself up.
My little one also got a glass of juice! (The juice bottle is glass and heavy, so adults should pour it.)
The waffle station seemed to be out of service, but there was a soda machine.
I always eat a bowl of plain yogurt because I have travel bathroom problems.
Who burned my croissant!
I asked my daughter to get her own food, and this is what she brought back. So cute!
I wanted something hot and soupy, so I added a lot of bean sprouts to my noodles.
I picked out the ingredients I wanted and ate a bowl of rice noodles. The food was decent for the price.
I finished my meal with a plate of sweet and sour fruit.
Makino Chaya Mapo offers not only the breakfast buffet, but also To-Go packs and room service, so keep that in mind if you plan to visit.
That's it for my review of the breakfast buffet at this Mapo hotel! I'll be back soon with a post about our trip to Lotte World with my daughter!
