A Tranquil Hanok Stay at Joyanggahok Pool Villa in Gyeongju: A Blend of Tradition and Modern Comfort

This is an honest review written after receiving compensation from the company.
If you're considering a Hanok stay in Gyeongju, Joyanggahok Pool Villa is more than just a choice – it's a destination. Located in Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do (Address: 35-18, Joyangbokjegil, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do), this pool villa seamlessly blends traditional Korean aesthetics with modern conveniences.
Passing through the entrance, the main building and an annex are situated side-by-side, allowing for separated movement and a high level of privacy due to the independent structure. With two family bed rooms, one kid's room, three bathrooms, and clearly separated living and kitchen areas, anyone can easily settle in. Even with a large family or group of friends, the noise is well-distributed across the spaces, maintaining a calm atmosphere.
Despite being a pool villa, Joyanggahok retains the warmth and scent unique to Hanok architecture, making every moment spent there even more special. During the day, the shadows of the courtyard gently move across the windows, and at night, the lights under the eaves softly illuminate the wood grain. The swimming pool is open 24 hours a day with lukewarm water, available for free use anytime. The hot spring outdoor bath offers a deeper healing experience for an additional fee.
Children can stay in the quiet, shallow pool for extended periods without feeling uncomfortable, while adults can relax and unwind as if in a spa. Dinner was prepared using an electric grill for barbecue, which was a satisfying experience due to the ease of managing the heat and smoke. After dinner, we enjoyed a relaxing time by the fire pit in the courtyard. Firewood is provided for a fee, and the flickering flames made the Hanok's roofline even more distinct.
The experience at Joyanggahok was more than just accommodation; it became a cherished memory in the special place that is Gyeongju. Sharing happy moments with family and friends in a space that blends tradition and modernity was meaningful in itself. Thanks to this experience, our trip to Gyeongju was all the more enriching.
From the perspective of a Gyeongju kids pool villa, the kid's room, swimming pool, and courtyard are seamlessly connected, making the flow of activities very natural. The kitchen is well-equipped with essential cooking utensils, making it easy to prepare simple brunches or late-night snacks. The beds and bathrooms were immaculately clean, and the intuitive arrangement of amenities minimized the need to bring extra supplies.
Bulguksa Temple is about a 10-minute drive away, making it a great location to visit in the morning. Returning and soaking in the outdoor bath noticeably relieved our fatigue. Every moment – the beautiful roofline of the Hanok, the courtyard lighting, and the reflection of the water – created a picture-perfect scene. Above all, the reputation of Joyanggahok as a famous Hanok pool villa pension in Gyeongju was fully justified by its well-organized operation.
The combination of privacy, pool, barbecue, and fire pit that I was looking for when choosing a Gyeongju pension was all resolved here at once. Additionally, the ambiance created by the Hanok's roofline harmonizing with the autumn sky was a unique charm that is hard to find in other accommodations. It was also very satisfying to have enough time for adult conversation after the children played and fell asleep.
The spacious courtyard and traditional walls enhanced the unique charm of the Hanok, making it fun to take pictures during our stay. There was also ample parking space, so there were no inconveniences even when traveling with multiple vehicles. It was such a satisfying experience that I felt there was no place more suitable for spending a day in Gyeongju in the fall.
Like this, the time at Gyeongju kids pool villa created precious moments with family, and the joyful memories with the laughter of children will be remembered for a long time.
