A Delicious Experience at The First Soraehyang
서울특별시 중구 남대문로 27 1층

I visited The First Soraehyang, located in the heart of Jung-gu near Namdaemun, on a cold day when I was craving something warm and comforting. Although jjambbong was my original plan, the oyster noodle soup caught my attention once I arrived.
With its clean interior, modern atmosphere, and well-organized menu structure, this restaurant stood out among the more traditional eateries in Namdaemun Market. The experience felt calm, satisfying, and refreshingly straightforward.
A modern Chinese dining spot in Namdaemun
The First Soraehyang is located in Jung-gu, Namdaemun, an area known for its bustling market atmosphere and long-standing eateries.
Unlike many older restaurants nearby, this place feels noticeably modern and well-maintained, making it comfortable for both casual meals and family visits.
Choosing oyster noodle soup over jjambbong
On this visit, I was torn between ordering jjambbong and trying something lighter. In the end, I chose the oyster noodle soup.
At first glance, the red peppers made it look spicy, but the flavor turned out to be surprisingly refreshing rather than overwhelming.
Taste, texture, and small disappointments
The noodles had a pleasantly chewy texture, and the broth felt clean and warming, making it ideal for a chilly day.
One small disappointment was the lack of ginger slices, which usually pair well with oyster-based dishes and help balance the flavors.
Dim sum and course-style menu impressions
The First Soraehyang also offers dim sum and a structured course-style menu, which adds variety beyond standard noodle dishes.
The truffle dim sum reminded me of shiitake mushroom dim sum from Mongjungheon, though the flavor felt more ordinary. The mushrooms were extremely hot and contained a lot of moisture, so caution is advised.
Overall evaluation and revisit thoughts
Overall evaluation: The interior is clean, the food feels fresh, and the dishes are prepared without unnecessary embellishment.
Will I visit again? I might return after a trip to Namdaemun with my parents, making it a comfortable choice to avoid any complaints.
Practical tips and parking information
The restaurant operates daily from 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM.
Parking is available at the Sotetsu Splaisir Hotel underground parking lot, and it is important to register your parking when you pay.
