How was everyone's long holiday? We finally took a trip to Buyeo, a place we had hesitated to visit before due to the distance. Our main destination was the Baekje Cultural Land, a historical theme park recreating the culture of Baekje. Luckily, the Baekje Cultural Festival was in full swing, so we got to enjoy the festival as well!
The Baekje Cultural Land is quite large, and it seemed difficult to explore everything in one visit. So, we checked the festival program beforehand and decided on the experiences we wanted to try.
Sabi Palace, the first thing you see upon entering the main gate, is a reconstruction of the Baekje royal palace. The dignity of the royal family and the splendor of the architecture were impressive.
To the right is Neungsa, a recreation of a representative Baekje temple. It was larger and more magnificent than I expected.
We first visited the Living Culture Village to participate in a program! It's a space designed to allow you to directly experience the daily life and culture of people in the Baekje era.
Various houses and street scenes from that time are recreated throughout the village, so even just taking a walk made us feel like we had traveled back in time to the Baekje era.
The cultural festival programs held in the Living Culture Experience Village were free, so we enjoyed them without any pressure. There was also a stamp rally going on, so it was fun to receive stickers after each experience.
Each program was explained and conducted directly by the teachers in charge, making it easy to understand. In the weapon science experience, we learned about the principles of weapon production and usage in the Baekje era, and we also learned about the colors of Baekje through natural dyeing! Our baby found it interesting, and it was an educational and fun time because we could experience it directly.
Making the Baekje Geumdong Daehyangro (Gilt-bronze Incense Burner of Baekje) had many parts to assemble, so it took quite a bit of time, but that made the sense of accomplishment even greater when we finished. We learned history and had fun making it with our own hands, so we really enjoyed the program to the fullest!
The festival was large in scale, and there were various programs such as performances, fireworks, and media art, so there were plenty of things to see and enjoy.
This trip to Buyeo was a meaningful time where history, experiences, and festivals came together.✨
