Dongdaemun Day Trip with Elementary School Kids

We visited Dongdaemun with my two elementary school kids.
The main purpose was to go to the Ramen Shop that serves Neoguri ramen, but since we were in Seoul, I wanted to make the most of the day and have fun with the kids by exploring various places.
Here’s what we did:
- Watched a movie at CGV
- Purchased keychain materials at Dongdaemun Market
- Dined at the Neoguri ramen shop
- Enjoyed the Seoul Light video at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP)
- Strolled along the Naksan Park Fortress Trail
1. Watching a Movie in Dongdaemun
At Hyundai Outlet, there's a CGV cinema. The lower floor features Artbox, Kyobo Bookstore, restaurants, and shopping options, making it possible to spend an entire day just at Hyundai Outlet. Plus, if you watch a movie, parking is free for three hours.
The cinema is comfortable, and the snacks offered are quite diverse.
I highly recommend watching a movie with the kids!
2. Neoguri Ramen Shop
No elementary student can resist Neoguri ramen! Located on the second floor of Hyundai Outlet, the ramen shop offers unlimited toppings for just 5,000 won.
Operated by Nongshim, you can also choose from Shin Ramyeon, Yukgaejang, and Chapagetti. Don't forget to check the parking validation: one hour free for purchases over 10,000 won and two hours free for purchases over 30,000 won.
3. Dongdaemun Market, 5th Floor
The 5th floor of Dongdaemun Market offers a variety of accessories. You can customize trendy pouch accessories with parts you choose yourself. You can create your own unique pens and keychains, so make sure to stop by if you're interested.
We only visited A and C buildings of Dongdaemun Market, but there are plenty of shops with similar prices, so we bought from a place with a good selection and reasonable crowd.
Making three keychains cost about 4,000 won per person, and small plush dolls were only 1,000 won. We also bought keychains for 2,000 to 3,000 won. It was fun picking out the pieces!
These keychains went straight onto my son's backpack! Boys love them too.
4. Dongdaemun Design Plaza
This place hosts many exhibitions and has lots of fun elements, making it great for spending time with kids. The Seoul Light exhibition has just ended, so I'm curious about what exhibitions will come next.
5. Naksan Park Fortress Trail
This is a beautiful trail known for its scenic views. After visiting the Hanyangdoseong Museum, heading to the Naksan Park Fortress Trail is a great route. It's lovely during the day and offers stunning night views.
We couldn't go all the way because the kids were tired, but I think we'll visit Dongdaemun again to explore the fortress trail.
This itinerary is enjoyable for both boys and girls in elementary school, so be sure to check it out!
