Seoul Film Center Opening and Upcoming Programs
The Seoul Film Center officially opened on November 28 and will begin full operation of its screening rooms and multipurpose facilities in January 2026. Designed as a public cultural complex dedicated to film, the center aims to support both creators and audiences.
With free rentals during its early operation period, curated screening programs, and a membership system for film professionals, the Seoul Film Center is positioning itself as a new hub for film culture and collaboration in Seoul.
What Is the Seoul Film Center?
The Seoul Film Center is a public complex space focused entirely on cinema. It features three screening rooms, a multipurpose hall, shared offices, and exhibition spaces designed to support film-related activities.
The center will host film festivals, premieres, seminars, and industry events, providing an open cultural platform where films are not only screened but also discussed and developed.
Free Rentals During the Initial Period
Screening rooms, multipurpose spaces, and shared offices will be available for free until March 2026. All rentals will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
From April 2026 onward, the center will transition to a paid rental system with regular booking operations.
Screening Room Rentals
Applications for screening room rentals open on December 23 through the Seoul Film Center website. These spaces are suitable for independent screenings, previews, and small film events.
Shared Office Rentals
Shared office spaces will be available starting January 1, 2026. Applications open on December 29 at 10:00 AM via the website and will be accepted on a first-come basis.
Membership System for Film Professionals
The Seoul Film Center operates a membership-based system tailored to film industry professionals. This structure encourages networking, collaboration, and resource sharing within the film community.
Membership applications will be available on the official website starting December 22.
Main Screening Programs and Retrospectives
Opening programs include a tribute to late actress Kim Ji-mi and a retrospective dedicated to actor Ahn Sung-ki.
In total, ten films will be screened, including titles such as Our Joyful Days and The Age of Success, offering audiences a chance to revisit meaningful works in Korean cinema.
