SeMA Seoul Mediacity Biennale: The Dead Are Not Safe If The Enemies Win
Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA) presents the Seoul Mediacity Biennale (SMB13), Exhibition Cluster 8: The Dead Are Not Safe If The Enemies Win.
This chapter explores the return of the dead as both a spiritual force and a political consequence, focusing on unstable, poetic, and even ecstatic forms of remembrance. The dead find no rest and continue to disturb the living. Spirits and ghosts move through the substance of our world, demanding to be seen and heard. By attending to these disturbances—these repressed and unresolved traumas—we can honor the dead and improve the future for those yet to be born. The past is not past; we must learn to live with it.
Nearly a third of the artists in this exhibition are deceased, yet their presence remains palpable. They are in the room with you right now.
