From experiences to book sharing,
Paju City Small Library Competition
Hello! This is Paju Alimi~
Today, I would like to share my thoughts on the Paju City Small Library Competition held at Paju Central Library on December 6.
In front of the library, Paju's mascot, Parangi, warmly welcomed visitors.????
This was a delightful point right from the start.
The event took place on the 1st and 5th floors with various activities.
✔ On the 1st floor, there were experience booths prepared by several small libraries.
The Geumchon Rainbow Small Library offered an experience of Japanese picture book theater.
Among them, I participated in the booth for creating a tunnel book based on the picture book "The Cat and the Twelve Animals" by author Hongdangmu.
I had the opportunity to hear the story and behind-the-scenes insights directly from the author while coloring and completing the tunnel book.
It was a valuable experience that went beyond mere crafting, combining storytelling and creativity.????
I brought the completed tunnel book home, and it is now proudly displayed.
On one side, there was also a book sharing event.
Each person could receive up to 5 books for free, and I managed to grab a few!????
Additionally, in line with the event's purpose, there was a kiosk in front of the elevator where visitors could search for our local small libraries, making them feel closer to us.

On the 5th floor, the Tanhyeon Small Library featured an exhibition of citizen-participated illustrated diaries and a bookmark-making experience.
There were also various programs prepared, including a sewing machine basics experience to create tea mats, making mackerel doorbells and daisy keyrings, and sewing potato puff keychain dolls.
I particularly enjoyed the experience of observing insects through 3D glasses.
It was my first time using 3D glasses, and the insects on the screen felt incredibly vivid and impressive.????
The Paju City Small Library Competition felt like a warm festival where books, experiences, and people naturally connected.
Seeing the individuality and activities of each small library firsthand, I was reminded of how important these spaces are in our daily lives.
I hope this event encourages more citizens to visit our local small libraries and enjoy moments with books in their daily lives.
