Twenty-two trainees completed months of intensive learning and collaboration to present their first curated exhibition.
The graduation exhibition, Love and Flaws, reflects on Korean language found in everyday life through the eyes of emerging curators.
This exhibition captures both the process of becoming a curator and the quiet depth of language often overlooked in daily spaces.
From Training to the Exhibition Floor
Since October, 22 trainees have gathered for the Korean exhibition curator training program.
Through lectures and mentoring from domestic and international experts, participants strengthened their understanding of exhibition planning and practice.
The program offered not only theory, but real stories from the field that shaped their first steps as curators.
Learning from Experts in the Field
The program was led by Professor Koh Dong-yeon from Ewha Womans University.
Participants also learned from Editor Shim Ji-eun of Monthly Art and Curator Seo Ji-eun from the Hanwha Cultural Foundation.
Listening directly to professionals helped trainees understand the realities behind exhibition making.
Four Teams, One Exhibition
After completing theoretical training, the trainees were divided into four teams.
The Planning, Operations, Installation, and Promotion teams each took responsibility for different aspects of the exhibition.
From writing curatorial intentions to deciding layouts, lighting, and installation methods, every detail was discussed together.
Hands-On Curatorial Experience
Lighting placement and artwork installation became practical lessons rather than abstract concepts.
The exhibition space gradually took shape through collaboration and repeated discussion.
This process transformed learning into lived experience.
The Graduation Exhibition, Love and Flaws
The graduation exhibition is titled Love and Flaws.
It officially opened with the participation of mentor artist Choi Gi-chang.
This moment marked the trainees’ transition from learners to practicing curators.

Focusing on Korean Language in Everyday Life
This exhibition turns attention to Korean language often overlooked in daily life.
Words found on street signs, books, and public spaces in Sejong City become objects of reflection.
Through these elements, the curators share their personal interpretations and thoughts.
Language as a Curatorial Subject
Rather than focusing on grand narratives, the exhibition highlights familiar words and expressions.
This approach invites visitors to reconsider the meaning and emotion embedded in everyday language.
The result is a quiet yet thoughtful exhibition experience.
An Opening Filled with Pride
During the opening ceremony, all participating curators shared their intentions with the audience.
Standing before visitors, they experienced a proud and emotional moment as first-time curators.
The presence of artist Choi Gi-chang’s works further deepened the meaning of the exhibition.
Small Details That Extend the Experience
Postcards featuring the artist’s works are available for visitors.
These small items allow the exhibition experience to continue beyond the museum space.
They serve as gentle reminders of the themes explored inside.
A Meaningful Step for Emerging Curators
Love and Flaws is not just an exhibition, but the culmination of a learning journey.
It represents the trainees’ first collective voice as curators.
Visitors are invited to explore both the possibilities of Korean language and the fresh perspectives of new curatorial voices.
