2025 Paju Volunteer Competition
On December 10, 2025, at the Paju Citizens' Hall,
the 2025 Paju Volunteer Competition was held under the theme 'Your Sharing, Everyone's Pride.'
This event was organized by the City of Paju and the Paju Volunteer Center to recognize those who have quietly served their neighbors throughout the year and to share the value of volunteering.
The event began with congratulatory performances, including a show by the Imjin River Art Troupe, composed of North Korean artists, and a performance by Park Seong-jin, a graduate of Pyongyang University of the Arts, on the sohaegeum.
Following the performances, a video showcasing volunteer activities was screened.
It highlighted how many people's 'hands' in environmental cleanup, support for vulnerable groups, local event operations, and safety and care efforts greatly contribute to the daily lives of citizens.
It particularly demonstrated the expanding role of public service in enhancing the quality of life for the entire city, rather than just assisting specific groups.
Many dignitaries attended the event to celebrate and honor the dedication of volunteers who have selflessly committed themselves to the City of Paju and its neighbors.
The highlight of the competition was the awards ceremony, where a total of 106 individuals were honored, including recipients of the President's Award, Prime Minister's Award, and various other recognitions.
The recipients expressed that they did not believe they had done anything extraordinary and emphasized that it was possible because of collective efforts.
This event served as a reminder that volunteering is not just for special individuals but something that anyone can participate in as part of their daily lives.
A representative from the City of Paju stated, "Volunteering fills the gaps that administration cannot reach," emphasizing that each volunteer's time contributes to making Paju a stronger city.
They also expressed their commitment to continue providing support and collaboration to ensure that volunteers can operate stably.
The volunteer efforts in Paju continue to connect people, making this event a meaningful occasion.
