Michel-Henry (1928–2016)
After graduating from the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he worked in France and around the world as a Post-Impressionist artist who vividly depicted flowers, landscapes, and still lifes in oil paintings.
Style and Technique
Based on Post-Impressionism and Impressionism, he diversely expressed floral still lifes, landscapes, and seascapes with lyrical and sensual colors and compositions. His work is characterized by brilliant yet clear colors, and the glass-like sheen of his oil paintings.
I took a picture with my ticket before entering the museum.
My best friend and I had promised to go somewhere together when we both had some free time.
That's right! My friend asked me if I was interested in the Michel-Henry art exhibition, so we went together.
We went on the first day of the exhibition, so it wasn't too crowded, and my friend bought the tickets early bird, so the price was very reasonable. (I learned about early bird ticketing this time!)
With a reservation for 3 PM, we borrowed a docent device narrated by Son Ho-young of god with our ID before entering the art museum and began our tour!
The exhibition hall was uniquely divided into several structures within one space.
Personally, this was my favorite painting.
In my personal opinion, I think this artist is the best at expressing the concept of transparency...

Another characteristic is that the objects in the foreground are expressed in bright red, but even the background is expressed in colors similar to those of the objects in the foreground, which was very impressive.
I could understand why Michel-Henry is referred to as a colorist.
The most unique and memorable part was that the paintings did not include the year.
Just by looking at the paintings, I felt that the artist didn't simply paint what they saw, but rather expressed something felt from within through the objects and the artist's imagination, making it difficult to guess the year just by looking at the paintings, which was also unique.
After seeing all the paintings, my friend and I decided to take a break at the cafe on the first floor.
If you bring the ticket you purchased for the museum visit, you get a discount on coffee!!!

As the hottest summer in my 25 years is coming to an end, how about visiting the Michel-Henry Art Museum exhibition?
I think you can have a healing time for yourself, away from the noisy daily life in a cool place.
(In fact, most of this activity was due to my power E friend's prior research and suggestions, and I just tagged along....)
