To create a Seoul without loneliness
The sixth
Mind Journey Reading Challenge
is ongoing until January 11 next year.
Seoul City, in collaboration with Kyobo Bookstore, is conducting the 'Mind Journey Reading Challenge - Mind Settlement' until January 11 next year.
This challenge, part of Seoul's efforts to create a 'Seoul without loneliness', focuses on the theme of 'Mind Settlement'. Participants will choose books that moved them this year and select memorable sentences from those books to complete their '2025 Mind Settlement Report', wrapping up their year's journey.
Seoul City is working towards realizing a 'Seoul without loneliness' through various initiatives, including the '365 Seoul Challenge'. The Mind Journey Reading Challenge has been held six times, each with a different theme every other month.
The sixth Mind Journey Reading Challenge runs for three weeks until January 11 next year, allowing participants to read four recommended books or any book of their choice.
The recommended books for this challenge are: "I Said Goodbye" by Kim Ae-ran, "Grapefruit Apricot Club" by Han Ro-ro, "Mileage Hour" by Choi Yu-na, and "Only Her's" by Kim Hye-jin.
Anyone can participate in the challenge by reading their chosen book and selecting impressive sentences and keywords that express their feelings to certify their participation on the Kyobo Bookstore event page.
Upon certification, participants will complete their own '2025 Mind Settlement Report' and receive a certification stamp.
Certification can be done once a day, and collecting a total of seven certification stamps during the event period will allow participants to complete the challenge.
Kyobo Bookstore will randomly select 200 participants who have received at least one certification stamp to award a 5,000 won e-gift certificate, and 100 participants who have collected all seven stamps will receive a 10,000 won gift card.
The Mind Journey Reading Challenge has been held bi-monthly and will conclude with this sixth session.
This year's challenge has seen participation from over 44,000 citizens, with more than 33,000 sentences shared. Notably, during the third challenge, an event was held to donate 300 books based on the number of empathies accumulated.
Seoul City stated, "We aimed to provide a challenge that citizens could easily start and consistently continue throughout the year. Next year, we will find new and meaningful ways to connect with citizens and create a daily life of connection and healing through books."
