This winter break, let's have fun at the library!
Paju Central Library Story&
Libraries are evolving from traditional spaces for reading and information gathering into vibrant community hubs that offer diverse cultural experiences.
Libraries in Paju are already playing significant roles in the local community.
Among them, I'd like to introduce a unique space at Paju Central Library.
Located on the 5th floor, it's called Story&! β¨
What Is Story&?
Story& is a "Creative Laboratory for a Sustainable Future," designed for citizens to actively participate and share creativity and experimental spirit.
It functions as a Maker Space.
Story& is an eco-friendly practice space for a sustainable future.
Both the creative process and the materials used are environmentally friendly.
Recycled materials were used in creating the space, including floors and tables.
Thought is given to ensure that the outcomes are not merely for single-use consumption.
Creative Technology Experience
Let's explore the main facilities and experience areas at Story&!
Thereβs a corner for creation using 4th Industrial Revolution technologies.
This includes a 3D pen, 3D printing, and laser engraving training room.
You can create your own works with a 3D printer and use a laser engraver for lettering on wood or acrylic.
Anyone interested in new technologies, including youth and adults, can participate!
Green Corner and Recycling Activities
A Green Corner is also available, allowing you to practice resource recycling and environmental protection.
Unmanned collection boxes for milk cartons, sterilized packs, and ice packs are installed.
You can earn points after recycling!
Did you know that it takes 5 seconds to open a plastic bottle cap, but it takes 500 years to decompose?
We turn plastic bottle caps and masks into powder and create new products using a plastic injection machine.
Through the process of repurposing discarded resources, we can reflect on resource recycling and environmental protection.
For every environmental protection action, you receive a stamp, and collecting 5 stamps allows you to exchange them for a repurposed product made here.
Additionally, we collaborate with Paju's first zero-waste shop, 'Doga-ge,' to offer various resource recycling education and experiential events!
Smart Garden and Tool Corner
The Smart Garden features an automatic watering and lighting system.
You can read books and have conversations while relaxing here, which is also known for its beautiful sunsets.
The Tool Corner provides tools for everyday repairs and teaches how to use them.
Before throwing things away, why not try to fix them and use them again?
