The '205 Culture Street Festa' took place from Saturday, October 18th to Sunday, October 19th, 2025, on 1st Street in the Waegwan district of Chilgok. This festival transformed the ordinary streets of Chilgok into a stage for culture, centered around 1st Street connecting Waegwan Station and Waegwan Market. Local residents and artists collaborated to create a diverse cultural experience for everyone. Chilgok County presented a variety of programs including performances, activities, and exhibitions, showcasing the diversity of local art and fostering intergenerational exchange. The '205 Culture Street Festa' strengthened Chilgok's identity as a cultural city by bringing together art, commerce, residents, artists, and tourists. Over two days, October 18th and 19th, 1st Street in Waegwan, Chilgok, hosted the '205 Culture Street Festa,' a special festival where art met people and everyday life became a stage. This participatory cultural festival, created by local artists and residents, featured diverse content such as performances, experiences, exhibitions, and photo zones. This year, the festival expanded beyond daytime activities to include nighttime content featuring illuminated exhibits and themed photo zones, transforming the entire street into an art space under the autumn night sky.

The '205 Culture Street Festa,' based on Chilgok's cultural identity, was created by local artists and enjoyed by residents and tourists alike, reaffirming its potential as Chilgok County's representative cultural festival. This event went beyond a simple festival, connecting the region and its people through the power of everyday culture, creating a special experience where culture becomes a part of daily life and the streets become a stage.

1. Busking Zone

A street filled with delicious aromas and music.

Upon entering the '205 Culture Street Festa,' visitors were greeted by a feast of delicious food. The food zone and the Waegwan Market night market were bustling with visitors, while singer-songwriters performed busking next door, creating a special experience that combined taste and music.

On the 18th (Saturday), the festival kicked off with performances by five teams from 'Chilgok Busking Fighter'—Kim Suk-hee, Dongnebuk, Sandeulbaram Harmonica, Bitna Buksam Harmonica Research Association, and Chilgok Busking Friends—followed by singer-songwriters such as Hong Hee-sun, Minky Tae, Narin, Rion, Doo Seon-jeong, Linkman, and Sell We Rock N Roll, who showcased various genres of music, boosting the festive atmosphere. On the 19th (Sunday), three teams from Chilgok Busking Fighter—Dear Blue, Yeonhuidan Jaepyi, and Yoo Myung-heon—performed, along with talented artists such as Hello Mello, August Brothers, Turn Table, The Warms, Green Avocado, Band Ondo, and New Jazz Band, creating a street filled with music throughout the two days.

2. Rest Area

A space to pause, rest, and connect.

Between the busking zone and the humanities plaza, a rest area was set up where anyone could sit and relax. This rest area provided a space to take a break from the festival, allowing tourists and residents alike to relax comfortably. More than just a rest area, it naturally connected to the surrounding commercial area, adding vitality to the region. It was a special space where a brief respite led to new encounters and stories, and where pausing expanded into consumption and regional vibrancy.

3. Humanities Plaza

A festival of humanities unfolding on the street.

The 'Humanities Plaza' stretched from the Nonghyup direct sales store parking lot entrance to Gobau Sonmandu. This section transformed the road into an open performance space. Performances from Madanggeuk to acrobatics, circus, and taekwondo filled the streets, interacting directly with the audience. This open performance, blurring the boundaries between stage and audience, showcased 'art in everyday life,' allowing anyone to stop, watch, listen, and enjoy together.

4. Humanities Village Zone

A place where people and stories gather.

The Humanities Village Zone was a humanities experience booth space embodying the core values of Chilgok, a city of culture. It allowed visitors to experience the warmth and value of humanities through people's stories, humanistic experiences, and community meetings. Various community experience programs were operated, including rice cake making, wood-fired pizza making, and traditional Sikhye tasting prepared by various villages in Chilgok, captivating the five senses of tourists. It was a valuable experience where people naturally felt the humanities in their daily lives and connected with each other.

5. 205 Playground Zone

Fun that changes several times a day.

The 205 Playground was an experiential play zone that changed themes seven times over two days. Thanks to the ever-changing programs, tourists could enjoy a variety of activities without getting bored.

On the 18th (Saturday), 'No. 1 Road Canvas,' which turned the street into a canvas, 'Bubble Playground,' where visitors could fall into bubbles, and 'Random Play Dance,' where people danced to exciting music, were held. On the 19th (Sunday), 'No. 1 Road Canvas' and 'Bubble Playground' were held again, along with '205 Game,' which combined traditional games and missions, and '205 Playground,' which stimulated the desire to challenge.

'No. 1 Road Canvas' was a program that painted the 205 Playground Zone with chalk art, allowing everyone from children to adults to enjoy creating and doodling on the street. 'Bubble Playground' was operated as an experience zone where visitors could watch bubble performances and create their own bubbles, providing moments full of childlike innocence. 'Random Play Dance' was a dance event led by 10 members of the Chilgok Star-On Crew under the direction of a host, transforming the street into an impromptu dance party. '205 Game' was a personal mission game based on traditional games such as Ddakji game, Jegi kicking, top spinning, and Gonggi playing, inspired by Netflix's <Squid Game>. '205 Playground' was filled with experiential games that anyone could enjoy, regardless of age or gender, such as hammer driving, 'Catch 55 Seconds' stopwatch challenge, cup stacking, and ring toss. The 205 Playground was a diverse play space that transcended generations and encouraged participation, enriching the enjoyment of the festival.

6. Eco Zone

Small but definite practice.

The Eco Zone is an eco-friendly experience space where regeneration, circulation, and creativity meet. Through eco-friendly kits and various eco-experience programs, such as making doorplates and natural soaps, visitors could easily and enjoyably learn the value of small practices in everyday life.

7. 205 Culture Stage

The main stage where the story of Chilgok Waegwan unfolded.

The main stage of the 205 Culture Street Festa featured a variety of performance programs that told the story of Chilgok Waegwan. Everyone who visited 1st Street could feel the culture and emotions of Chilgok with their whole body. The opening performance, which began with a splendid parade, featured a professional marching band, Chilgok senior models, the Jaemirong puppet theater, a kindergarten marching band, and the Dream Dance Company, transforming the street into a festive atmosphere. The following stage featured magician Yoo Ho-jin's fantastic magic show, a big balloon show and Moonfire Show that captivated the audience, Super Stick, the popular fairy tale musical 'Who Pooped on My Head?', and a comedy art performance that combined laughter and art, providing a wealth of performances that everyone could enjoy. The stage and street performances, which contained the story of Chilgok, provided the residents of Chilgok and tourists with cultural empathy and enjoyment beyond simple attractions.
