Calling all parents who spend every weekend searching for fun activities!
If you're wondering how to spend the rest of the long Chuseok holiday after visiting family, this festival is for you! Since my in-laws live in Gyeonggi-do, I was looking for a local festival that I could enjoy with my kids. I discovered the Ilsan Festival, which my children and I love, and I wanted to share it with you!
This festival in Goyang aims to boost local tourism and the economy by creating specialized nighttime tourism businesses. It combines a flower exhibition with global cultures and K-culture to create unique content specific to Goyang and revitalize the local economy.
The festival runs from October 8th to 12th, and I'd like to highlight some of the events happening on Friday, October 10th:
Goyang Youth K-POP Competition
Date: October 10th (Fri), 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM / Free Admission / Lake Park
The festival offers a variety of local events throughout the day. The first event on Friday is the Goyang Youth K-POP Competition, a dance and singing competition for youth in Goyang. A total of 9 teams will be awarded prizes, and all participants will receive a souvenir to boost their confidence and showcase their talents. If you've got the talent and the drive, make sure to participate!
"Star is Born" King of Kings Competition
Date: October 10th (Fri), 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM / Ilsan Lake Park Flower Exhibition Hall Outdoor Stage
The next event is the "Star is Born" King of Kings Competition. This singing competition features the top 8 winners from the Food & Beer Festival and the "I am a Singer" competition representing Goyang. From the grand prize to special awards, there are prizes to be won, making it an exciting and fun competition!
Drone Basketball Tournament
Date: October 8th - 12th / Ilsan Lake Park Flower Exhibition Hall
Next up is the Drone Basketball Tournament! This is a basketball game where you control drones to score. The 1st place prize is ₩1,500,000! 2nd place is ₩1,000,000, and 3rd place is ₩500,000! There are various age groups participating, including kids, juniors, and seniors, so the whole family and friends can participate, make special memories, and, if you're lucky, win prizes!
Busking & Breakdancing Performances / MC Events & DJ Party
Busking & Breakdancing Performances
Date: October 10th (Fri), 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
You can enjoy exciting busking and breakdancing performances by the Gyeonggi Arts Center performance team, K-Sori, and Fusion MC.
MC Event & DJ Party
Date: October 10th (Fri), 3:00 PM - 10:00 PM
MC Bae Eun-han will be hosting various events throughout the festival. After the festival ends, a DJ party will continue, so you can enjoy a hot and exciting Friday night!
Food Zone
Food Zone Operation
Date: October 10th (Fri), 3:00 PM - 10:00 PM
The food zone will be open throughout the festival! To revitalize the local commercial district, La Festa merchants will directly operate delicious food stalls.
The food zone will feature global cuisine, K-FOOD (jeon, tteokbokki, gimbap, chicken, etc.), and delicious menus from local commercial district booths. Using reusable containers to be environmentally friendly, you can enjoy a variety of foods and have a feast for both your eyes and your taste buds!
There will be even more diverse food options available than what is shown in the provided images, so there's no chance of getting bored with the food!
This festival is centered around Ilsan Lake Park, with various programs and ongoing events during the festival period. It's highly recommended for those living in Ilsan, those looking for places to visit near Seoul or in Gyeonggi-do, those looking for new local festivals, or those looking for places to visit with children!
