Mil Toast: A Hanok Cafe Experience in Ikseon-dong

Located in the trendy Ikseon-dong cafe street, Mil Toast is a beautifully decorated Hanok cafe.
It's the kind of place you might get recommended when traveling abroad. In fact, there were many foreign visitors at Mil Toast!
Hours: Daily, 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM
Parking: Not available
Address: 21-3 Donui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul
It's about a 10-minute walk from Jongno 3-ga Station. Since parking is impossible, I recommend using a nearby public parking lot.
Mil Toast is famous for its steamed bread, which is cooked in a steamer. It's located in the Hanok cafe street of Ikseon-dong.
The interior is decorated with a clean and beautiful wood tone + Hanok style. There's also a bar-style table, giving it a very open kitchen feel.
The restroom is inside the cafe, right in front, so they seemed to have paid attention to the smell. There were many air fresheners, so no unpleasant odors escaped.
For the steamed bread, you have to choose two flavors, and the price is ₩6,000 - ₩6,500 per piece.
The Souffle Toast is a bit pricey, but if you consider the cost of living in Seoul...
They offer Chestnut Bread, Corn Bread, Matcha, and Americano.
Both the bread and the drinks are quite small. The bread is a size that you can easily eat by yourself.
Vanilla Ice Cream Souffle Toast
The most ridiculously small item is this mini-souffle toast! It's ₩16,000 and very tiny, LOL.
But the souffle toast contains custard cream, so the ₩16,000 price seems okay. (Immediate change of heart)
Both the chestnut and corn bread were delicious, but the corn bread was slightly better! If you don't like fusion flavors, the plain chestnut bread is a good choice.
The Problematic Matcha
When I was searching for cafes, the matcha looked very rich and delicious in the photos. You can choose between sweetened and unsweetened, so I chose sweetened, but it wasn't sweet at all...
When I asked, they said that it's not about being sweet or not, but sweetened means that sugar is mixed into the powder... But it's not sweet! I wonder if this is what original matcha tastes like...
Don't think of it as a typical cafe matcha latte! (Matcha was disappointing)
I won't be revisiting! If the drinks were more perfect, I would definitely revisit, but the drinks are a bit disappointing.
The bread is delicious though!
