Inside the Lively Night Vibe of Kim Chang-hoon Pocha

On a cold evening near Konkuk University Station, I visited Kim Chang-hoon Pocha’s land branch, a recently renovated pocha with a unique concept.
The space has transformed into a cozy tent-style atmosphere, perfect for enjoying warm dishes and drinks during chilly weather.
This post shares my experience, from the restaurant’s concept and reservation perks to the flavors of gopdoritang and crispy cheese potato pancakes.
Location and Basic Information
The restaurant is located underground at 27 Achasan-ro 31-gil, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.
It’s about a 3 to 4 minute walk, roughly 330 meters, from Exit 2 of Konkuk University Station where Line 2 and Line 7 intersect.
Operating hours are Monday to Thursday and Sunday from 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM, and Friday to Saturday from 5:00 PM to 3:00 AM.
There is no parking available, so visiting by public transportation is recommended.
From Hopro to Pocha: A New Concept
This place was originally known as Kim Chang-hoon Hopro, which I had visited before and remembered fondly.
After renovation, it has reopened as Kim Chang-hoon Pocha with two concepts: a land branch and a sea branch.
The land branch focuses on dishes made from terrestrial ingredients, while the sea branch is planned to feature seafood dishes and has not yet opened.
Tent-Style Interior and Cozy Atmosphere
Compared to my previous visit, the interior has changed significantly.
Instead of a traditional pocha layout with tables and chairs, the space now features a tent setup that creates a warm and intimate mood.
On cold days, this tent-style interior feels especially inviting, and the semi-independent spaces make it comfortable to relax.
Orders are placed conveniently through QR codes at each table.
Reservation Benefits Worth Noticing
I made a reservation through Naver, which came with several nice perks.
These included a complimentary platter, a welcome hangover care set, and even a coupon for free ice cream.
Because of these benefits, I highly recommend reserving in advance if you plan to visit.
What We Ordered on a Chilly Evening
Given the cold weather, we ordered gopdoritang, crispy cheese potato pancakes, and Maehwasu.
The potato pancake was chosen because my friend loves pancakes, while I picked Maehwasu for its lighter and smoother taste.
The restaurant also serves soup and bread before the meal, similar to pre-meal bread at restaurants, and one of these can be refilled.
I skipped lunch that day, so I refilled the bread and enjoyed it thoroughly.
Rich Portions and Satisfying Flavors
When the food arrived, both dishes looked impressive right away.
The gopdoritang was filled with generous ingredients like potatoes, intestines, and chicken, making me wonder how we would finish it all.
The crispy cheese potato pancake came with a fresh cabbage salad and looked just as appetizing.
As I cut into the pancake, the cheese stretched beautifully, showing how generously it was filled.
The gopdoritang had a pleasant level of spiciness that paired well with alcohol, while the pancake was rich, crispy, and satisfying.
Overall Impression and Final Thoughts
The prices were reasonable, making it easy to order multiple side dishes without 부담.
The restaurant also offers private bookings, which makes it a good option for group gatherings or small celebrations.
Overall, the experience was very enjoyable, and I left feeling satisfied with both the food and the cozy tent-style atmosphere.
