Solo Cafe Tour in Seongsu-dong
Recently, I've been enjoying solo cafe tours and bakery visits in Seongsu-dong.
It brings me simple happiness to explore a couple of bakeries and cafes that I've been wanting to try and indulge in delicious pastries.
I recently visited the newly opened bakery cafe, Millap Bakery(밀랍커피앤베이커리).
There's a special joy in being one of the first to discover a new hotspot.
Heading to Millap Bakery
Despite the chilly winds, I made my way to Millap Bakery in Seoul Forest.
It's a relatively new establishment, but when I arrived in the late afternoon, I found that the salt bread was already sold out.
It seemed like many customers were ordering pastries for delivery as well.
I recently tried the Dujon cookie and bought another one for my husband, who hasn't had the chance to taste it yet.
Location and Building Layout
The location is great, being close to Seoul Forest, making it perfect for a meal, a cafe visit, and a stroll.
It's also conveniently located near the subway, making public transport easy.
Situated at the entrance of the Seongsu-dong cafe street, the location is ideal.
The first floor has a terrace, the second floor is where you place your orders, and the third floor features cafe tables.
The interior on the third floor is spacious, as they occupy the entire building.
The second floor has the ordering area and showcases the bakery items.
First Impressions and Atmosphere
The owner was friendly, providing excellent service.
I've heard great things about the salt bread, but unfortunately, it was sold out, which was disappointing.
If you're planning to try the salt bread, I recommend visiting early.
The third-floor cafe space has a warm and calm atmosphere, with wood tones and white decor creating a cozy vibe.
There's even a lovely Christmas tree!
The space is well-utilized, with tables scattered throughout, accommodating a good number of guests, and there are private rooms for a more secluded seating arrangement.
Millap Bakery is a cafe that offers a serene and healing space, embodying the unique charm of Seongsu-dong.
Menu and What I Tried
As for the menu, Millap Bakery highlights matcha drinks as their signature offering, which I couldn't resist trying!
The lemon pound cake looked delicious, but I opted for the Dujon cookie for my husband.
They even have a cookie box, perfect for gifting to friends!
Although I was disappointed not to see the salt bread, the sight of the delicious cookies lifted my spirits.
They offer a variety of baked goods, including madeleines, canelés, and financiers.
There's a baking area where they prepare desserts on-site, which is a nice touch.
When I ordered the Dujon cookie, they made it fresh right away.
Tasting Notes
I enjoyed a warm matcha latte, which had a smooth flavor with a subtle matcha essence.
The strawberry matcha latte was visually stunning; remember to stir it gently for the perfect blend of sweetness and slight bitterness.
The cookie had a crispy exterior and a chewy, moist interior, enhanced by marshmallows that added a delightful texture.
The financier was soft and melted in my mouth, and I even dipped it into the matcha milk foam.
Although the price of the Dujon cookies felt a bit steep for their size, I believe that indulging in something delicious is worth it.
After trying two cookies, I found them incredibly tasty!
Final Thoughts
If you're looking for a new cafe to visit after a walk in Seoul Forest or if you're a regular in Seongsu-dong, I highly recommend Millap Bakery.
It’s confirmed to be a place worth visiting, especially for the salt bread lovers out there.
This was a delightful visit to the quiet and charming Millap Bakery.
