Hello :)

With the weather getting hotter, I was wondering where to enjoy a refreshing cup of coffee with a relaxing atmosphere. That's when I discovered a cafe boasting a truly special view: Cafe Darak at Jeongdong Observatory, offering a panoramic view of Deoksugung Palace!

Peaceful Landscape

Deoksugung Stone Wall Road

Location & Hours of Operation: Cafe Darak

Cafe Darak is located on the 13th floor of the Seosomun Government Building 1 in Jung-gu, Seoul.

Its operating hours are a bit unique:

Weekdays: 1:30 PM - 5:30 PM

Weekends: 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM

Due to the limited operating hours, it was quite crowded even on the weekday I visited.

Tip for Visiting!

Only Elevator #3 provides access to the 13th floor without requiring any special access card, so keep that in mind for convenient entry.

Panoramic View of Deoksugung and Jeongdong Area

The biggest attraction here is, without a doubt, the view. As you enter Cafe Darak, a panoramic view of Deoksugung Palace, City Hall, and the Jeongdong area unfolds before your eyes. It's like looking at a wide, refreshing photograph.

Impressive View

If you visit with children, it's a great place to show them Deoksugung and the Jeongdong area, and tell them stories about the history or the buildings.

Affordable Coffee & Clean Interior

I ordered an Iced Americano (₩3,500) at Cafe Darak, which is a really reasonable price considering the fantastic view, right? It was convenient to order easily using a kiosk.

The interior was clean and well-organized, and they also sell souvenirs and merchandise on one side, which was fun to browse.

Beautiful Scenery

What's special is that you can enjoy the view even without ordering a drink. I loved that you can freely visit and gaze at the scenery of downtown Seoul without any pressure.

Healing Spot in the City: Cafe Darak

Although it was a short visit, looking down at Deoksugung with a cup of coffee made me feel calm and relieved of the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

If you're looking for a unique view cafe in Seoul, I highly recommend Cafe Darak at Jeongdong Observatory!
