While looking for a late-night cafe in Hongdae, I ended up visiting Mi-eum Record, a newly opened LP bar that left a lasting impression.
Despite being a bit far from Yeonnam-dong, everything from the hand-drip coffee to the intimate LP sound and retro atmosphere made the walk worthwhile.
This is a small but memorable place where beautiful sounds, thoughtful details, and calm nighttime coffee come together.
Discovering a Late-Night LP Cafe in Hongdae
While searching for a cafe in Hongdae that stays open late, I decided to check out a newly opened LP bar called Mi-eum Record.
It was quite a walk from Yeonnam-dong, but the moment I arrived, I felt that the effort had been worth it.
Day Tea, Night Drinks — But Coffee Too
At the entrance, a sign reading Day Tea, Night Drinks initially made me think that coffee might not be available in the evening.
Thankfully, that wasn’t the case. Mi-eum Record serves coffee at night as well, making it a perfect stop even after dinner.
A Small Space Filled With Beautiful Sounds
The retro vibe is noticeable from the outside, and it becomes even more immersive once you step inside.
The LP bar itself is quite small, fitting around eight or nine people, but the softly playing vinyl records create a warm and intimate atmosphere.
The name Mi-eum Record combines the character for beautiful with the one for sound, and the space truly lives up to that meaning.
Simple Coffee Menu and Hand-Drip Brewing
The menu was surprisingly minimal, laid out on just a single page.
Mi-eum Coffee and Record Coffee were caffeinated options, while Drung Coffee was decaffeinated. The names were refreshingly straightforward.
When you order coffee, it’s brewed right in front of you using a hand-drip method, which adds to the calm, unhurried experience.
Thoughtful Details That Elevate the Experience
They also offered Financier pastries, including a fig version, though the menu may have changed since my visit.
The coffee beans were stored in vacuum containers and ground fresh. I was busy chatting and missed some of the brewing process, but the taste was excellent.
The cups were beautiful and perfectly matched the retro aesthetic. Any remaining coffee was poured into a separate container so nothing went to waste.
Personal Touches and Quiet Moments
A coaster reflecting the Mi-eum Record name caught my eye and made the experience feel even more authentic.
On the back of the menu, customers had left handwritten messages. Most were congratulating the opening, but we simply wrote whatever we felt like.
It may have surprised the owner a bit, but that freedom added to the charm of the place.
Leaving With Lingering Memories
Afterwards, I took the bus home while my friend H was taking photos of me.
I returned the favor and took a picture of her, though I still haven’t received my photo.
If H happens to see this, please send me the picture.
