My husband visited Matasa in Gongdeok. Seeing me struggling with breastfeeding at the postpartum care center, he decided to surprise me with a trip there, even though it was quite a distance.

I had previously mentioned wanting to try their pastries, and when my husband saw the place, he recognized it as somewhere he had been before. He said someone had brought him treats from there, claiming it was a popular spot.

The inside of Matasa was packed with people, so I couldn't take many photos. However, there are seating areas that can accommodate about six people.

This is the packaging for the baked goods from Matasa. It looked beautiful, but unfortunately, there wasn't much left because someone had swept everything away right in front of my husband!

When he asked if we could pack the remaining items, he found out that almost everything had been taken, and he was quite frustrated about missing out on the surprise!

Despite that, he managed to get a few items: two madeleines, one cocoa chip, one espresso hazelnut croissant, and two almond croissants.

He wanted to buy pistachio ganache cookies (since I love pistachios), but he missed out on those too, which made him pout!

While I was out from the postpartum care center, he was quite proud of the treats he managed to bring home!

Among the croissants I've tried, this was the most flaky without being uncomfortable; it seemed perfectly baked to the right level.

Each bite was rich with butter, making it delicious. It wasn't overly sweet, which is a compliment for Korean desserts.

The madeleines were also well-baked, and their appearance was an added bonus. I can confirm that this place is a must-try for baked goods. Although they look different, the taste remains the same. The white chocolate on top isn't overly sweet and pairs well with the moist cake.

If you find yourself on a date in Gongdeok or want to bring something nice to someone, I recommend stopping by Matasa!
