KTX Gyeongju Station Location
: Gyeongju Station, Sin-Gyeongju Station, Seo-Gyeongju Station? Where should you go?
Your journey to Gyeongju starts at Gyeongju Station.
However, there are many stations: Gyeongju Station, Sin-Gyeongju Station, and Seo-Gyeongju Station!
So, let's quickly compare them.
The old Gyeongju Station was located on Hwanglidangil,
but it ceased operations in 2021 and is now closed.
It no longer serves trains and has been transformed into a cultural space.
Sin-Gyeongju Station is currently the KTX Gyeongju Station.
It was named Sin-Gyeongju to avoid confusion with the old station.
It is now officially called Gyeongju Station as of 2024.
Seo-Gyeongju Station is located near the old station
and serves routes from Gangneung and Pohang.
In summary, Sin-Gyeongju Station is now Gyeongju Station,
the main station for trains to Gyeongju!
KTX Gyeongju Station is located somewhat outside of major tourist spots.
It takes about 40 minutes to an hour by car to reach Bomun District and Bulguksa Temple.
Hwanglidangil is a 20-minute drive or a 30-minute bus ride,
making it convenient to visit there first and then explore other attractions.
Gyeongju Station Amenities
The old Gyeongju Station lacked amenities,
but the new Gyeongju Station is well-equipped and comfortable.
Since hosting the APEC event last year,
the number of visitors has significantly increased,
and the station has expanded accordingly.
Food options include Storyway convenience store, Lotteria,
various snack shops, Korean restaurant Byeolchae Ban,
and Japanese restaurant Kiso-ya.
There's also a Cafe Bene and the famous Gyeongju bread from Lee Sang-bok.
You can find simple snacks like Hwangnam bread at the souvenir shop.
For luggage storage, there are lockers next to Exit 2
and larger storage options near the train boarding area.
If you have large items, you can use the "Luggage Carry" service.
Parking at Gyeongju Station
Searching for Gyeongju Station parking will show various options,
including public parking, Gyeongju Station parking,
and Jeil Express parking.
The KTX Gyeongju Station parking is conveniently located right outside the station
with a daily maximum fee of 13,000 won.
The first 15 minutes are free,
making it ideal for quick drop-offs.
Public parking has a maximum daily fee of 6,000 won,
making it a popular choice.
Jeil Express parking is a bit farther away
but is often used for rental cars.
How to Get to Hwanglidangil from Gyeongju Station
Gyeongju Station is located on the outskirts,
which might raise concerns about accessibility.
However, you can easily reach Hwanglidangil by bus!
The bus frequency is relatively short,
and there are many buses available,
so you won't have to wait long, and it takes about 30 minutes.
If you have a lot of luggage,
taking a taxi is an option,
but be aware that there's a 55% surcharge
for trips from the station to the city.
A taxi to Hwanglidangil takes about 20 minutes
and costs around 15,000 won.
If you have a lot of luggage, renting a car could be a good choice.
Gyeongju is also very beautiful for driving!
